Bloodlines

No, this isn’t a post about my genealogy.

Do you ever have a video or computer game that is not the latest and greatest but still engrossing and fun? I do: The Jedi Knight series, Knights of the Old Republic, Diablo, Elder Scrolls, Myst, Hexen 2, Starfleet Command, among many others. The one I’ve been spending my time on lately is Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. It was the second game in the series after Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption, and spans four large cities, with hundreds of quests. If you know anything about the VtM series you know it’s addicting as hell.

In creating your character you choose from different clans–each with their own history and disciplines–and build your character’s stats. Items, weapons, and armor are all available through the game to help supplement your basic stuff when you start. Certain characteristics directly affect others, either by complementing skills or reducing the chance of going into a frenzy. There are also five masquerade violations allowed (using disciplines or feeding in public in the city), but there are quests which regain them. Violate too many and vampire hunters will track you or the game is over.

Here are a few YouTube videos showing the original trailer and some of the disciplines used, followed by some screenshots I took.

Week in Photos

First off, I really need to start carrying around my actual digital camera with as many pictures I take during the week. That’s my new week resolution.

red_sushi
I had a craving for sushi the other night at work. Of course the only place to get sushi in the middle of the night is a grocery store, and it was slightly disappointing, but it still worked.

28weekslater
Sandro came over and we watched 28 Weeks Later, which was okay, although it seemed to se things up for a third movie. I hope not: The first one was great, this one was okay, the third (if any) I estimate will suck.

kitty_bite
Kitty likes to clamp her teeth on my skin somewhere and not let go. It must be a safety blanket reaction.

buttface
We went to The Ram for dinner the other night. Their Buttface Amber Ale is one of the best beers I’ve ever tasted, and washed down a garlic swiss burger quite nicely. Their Total Disorder Porter is pretty good too.

cafe
This morning (well, afternoon) we went to this little cafe Downtown that we’ve never been to. I’d never even heard of it until Sandro told me that he was making reservations for us for brunch. Overall, it was pretty good, except that he ate a Lamb Burger which makes baby Jesus cry.

Another short weekend

Well, it looks like I’ll be working Saturday night again. Don’t get me wrong, I like the busier nights, but I wish I had more notice.

Thursday I stayed up after getting off work and went to fetch Sandro. We went to lunch at Claim Jumper then came home so I could get some sleep.

After waking up I ordered us pizza and we watched some TV, before he had to wrestle me awake and drag me to bed from the couch. Today we woke up and went to Thai Tom’s for lunch and were literally a foot away from the searing two foot tall flames. After that I cooled it with some pear bubble tea.

After lunch we picked up Gammy and took her grocery shopping, which of course Sandro takes business calls during. We pick up some pasta for dinner tonight and some other things I can’t live without (soda, fruit, and ice ream). Then we take her home and put her groceries away.

I gave myself a haircut on Wednesday before work, if I haven’t mentioned it yet.

We went to Blockbuster to grab a movie to have with dinner and I was surprised at the amount of homo movies on the “New Releases” shelves.

Weekend Photos

Friday I was tired. I worked Thursday night to cover for someone’s anniversary, so it wasn’t a big deal. But man was I tired. The things I do for love…

I picked Sandro up and for some reason we drove to the park two blocks from where he lives. He forgot his BlackBerry at home so we considered going back. For the moment we just enjoyed the park though. After deciding that he’d be fine without it we came down here and went shopping for his stepfather’s birthday gift at the mall. Just before walking in the mall my grandmother called me and asked me to take her to Target which was two blocks from where she lives and directly across the street from the mall we were at–even the side we were on. We walked to her apartment and in two blocks walking time she wasn’t home.

We went back towards the mall and found her on the corner waiting for us, not sure why. So we walked her through Target ad then back home before continuing the birthday gift shopping. After getting his stepfather his gift we ate, then went back to my house, where I soon passed out for a few hours. When I woke up we had pizza, snuggled while watching The First 48, then went to sleep.

The next morning we went to Krispy Kreme where I was awestruck by the cute donut seller, then I dropped him off at home. I came back here and washed my car, got it shiny, did the wheels and tires, and vacuumed the inside. My friend came over a few hours later (evidently watching Jerry McGuire was a time-sensitive issue) and we went to Red Robin for lunch. His cat shits a lot so we went to pick up cat litter and came out to find my freshly cleaned car being rained on. Sonnuvabitch!

All in all my weekend helped me forget about work bullshit even though I only had two days off this week. Here’s some photos, all taken with my Wing.

Undercroft–Best Pocket PC RPG

I wouldn’t say that I’m a “die hard” RPG fan, but I do enjoy a good game that I can engross myself in for a bit. Often those are RPG’s because they actually take some thought. Since I do a lot on Windows Mobile now I looked for one for a while. When I had my T-Mobile Dash, it was nearly impossibly to find one. They just don’t seem to make solid RPG’s for Windows Mobile Standard, but Professional edition has a few goodies. Undercroft is the best I’ve found so far. It has good graphics, gameplay, leveling system (although a bit slow, especially for Priests and Assassins), and plenty of areas to explore. There are only five major areas of the game, but each area has quite a lot of space in it to perform the multiple quests you’re given if you activate them.

UNDERCROFT

Jake v. Wasps 390 U.S. 42

I am not sure if I mentioned this in an earlier posting about my Thunderbird, but in the time that it had been parked after I bought my Scion some wasps had made a nest inside the door. It wasn’t inside the car itself, but when you open the door there is a wasp’s nest inside, above the joint that connects the door to the frame. Well last night a friend and I grabbed the can of wasp killer and armed with a few beers in our system entered into battle.

It’s a bit hard to see, but one was a survivor. He’s on the lower, right edge of the nest. He was quickly and severely dealt with.

Shooting in the woods (Pics and Videos)

Yesterday Sandro, I, and two friends went out to Darrington (BFE) to shoot some shit up. We had two Glock 22’s (.40), a Sig 45, .38 snubby, my Springfield .45, two shotguns, and an AR-15. Of course, we took some photos and video. All taken with the T-Mobile Wing of course.
