Shooting With Skip and Looking for Friends

A while back, probably a year and a half ago or so, I found an ad on Craigslist posted by a 22 year old straight guy named Skip looking for gay friends. Surprisingly enough, the friends didn’t have quotations around it and it was in the Strictly Platonic section. I sent an e-mail, he replied, and two days later we met at the gun range to put some holes in paper. My friends Shelly and Dizzle came along as well (this was the Dizzle-put-five-rounds-through-the-same-hole incident). Skip had never handled a gun before, let alone shot anything, so he didn’t do much of it, but I had a great time. We lost track of each other after that and haven’t spoken since. Maybe I wasn’t gay enough for him to hang out with…

I’ve been looking through the platonic posts once more given recent issues and my feeling the need to look for a few more male friends. (Females are fine, but I don’t get along with flaming guys, and women are usually only a few rungs above that.) I love having straight friends—especially hot straight friends—because I usually challenge their stereotypical view of gay guys, as well as the fact that no matter how hot they are and how good of friends we are, the option of sex just isn’t there. I’ve found a few posts, but not in my immediate area, but I’ll keep trying. I haven’t met quality people off of Craigslist (especially as far as friendships go). Most of the platonic ads I’ve read always include something to the effect of “I’m looking for friends but not opposed to something else,” or people looking for walking partners. I don’t know, maybe that’s code for something. I’m not up on the hip lingo I guess.

What luck have you guys had on CL as far as friendships go? Of course, there’s ass-a-plenty on there for those who are looking for it, but I’ve got a booty already.

Weekend Recap

Thursday was rough. I’m not going to get into it, but my looming halfway-to-fifty birthday coming up, missing my mom, and being tired really affected me.

2006pint Friday Sandro came over and we went to the mall for lunch, then walked around looking at things. We stopped by the T-Mobile store so I can play with my new toy which is coming soon. We went grocery shopping and I’m not sure why, but when I can get a bunch of stuff for not a lot of money I love it. Adidas antiperspirant was two 2-packs for $5. I also picked up a pint of Arrogant Bastard to try, which was very good. Danielle, my new roommate cooked dinner consisting of steak, pasta salad, salad, green beans, and vegetable dips which hit the spot. And my other roommate’s cute hot younger brother spent the night.

Today I didn’t do much. I woke up after dreaming about my new Blackberry, and being the true knob that I am I’ve already downloaded a bunch of themes and programs for it. I may sell my Wing to my roommate, who is a complete texting whore. Sandro and I picked up my grandmother and drove her to my new place to show her how close I actually am…for some reason she thought that just because I moved to the next county that I was far enough away that it’s a helluva drive to see her. Then we took her grocery shopping. Sandro was very affectionate in the store today. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t bother me at all, and I actually liked it. It just stood out to me. Once we got back to my place he left and I took a nap, then woke up and went to Aaron’s house to watch COPS. His boyfriend and I recently met and after a rough start but ended up hitting it off pretty good. I came home after dinking around there for a while and am now enjoying a pint of Young’s Double Chocolate Stout, with solid plans to work out tomorrow!

By the way, my roommate’s little brother is asleep on the floor in the living room right next to the sliding glass door, and he just kicked it which scared me.

Breakfast out of bed Pt. 1

This morning I met up with someone for quasi-breakfast at Starbucks. We both work nights and were chatting on the evil entity known as Gay.com beforehand. It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment type thing, definitely not planned. He seems like a cool guy, definitely seems well adjusted for our age, very similar views on certain things that I hold near and dear to my life. We know a few people in common, but nothing that can’t be worked through (j/k).

I updated Wordpress to 2.1, and I’ve started using Windows Live Writer for my blog. I used to use w. Bloggar to post from Windows. For a Microsoft program it’s pretty feature rich, although one thing I would love to see is a way to use password protection through Wordpress (currently I have to either write it through the Wordpress dashboard or publish it in WLW then change it). I’ve also started using Box.net, an online file storage service.

Well, I’m back at work tonight, so off to bed I go.
