Jake’s Life

My final projects are almost due for school, which means after that I will have a few weeks off between terms. Since my schooling is mostly online-based we go by a different schedule than the usual ‘quarters’ at other schools.

My first two quarters in college I noticed that I was having a real hard time expressing myself when writing. Enter: beer. One night I got so fed up with homework I sat down in front of an episode of The Shield and had a beer. I figured I still need to finish the essay, so I continued on it. After the wonderful Hefeweizen, it was a lot easier. I’ve also charted the grades I’ve received after a beer or two versus none at all…much higher. Coincidence? I think not.

Monday will be my last day at my current employer. I am relieved I am leaving, as I don’t desire high blood pressure and heart problems being only 23 years old. My new employer is somehat of a gold standard in the region, so it will definitely be a positive change.

Speaking of positive changes, I am single again. Maybe that sounded wrong; I hope not. I realized that I am at a certain stage in my life, and I need someone at that stage. It was nothing he said, or did, or anything about himself. He is great. I really mean that, and I still care for him a lot, hopeful I will be in his life after this, but I need someone who understands a bit more of what I’ve been through, where I’m going, and what life holds.
